School Specialist Concentration (18 hours)

Ideal for P-12 system professionals with an “A” or “G” level teaching license from North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) or equivalent. This track suits those eligible for the Special Endorsement in Computer Education (079).

Training and Development Concentration (15 hours)

Designed for instructional technology personnel aiming to specialize in training and development within corporate, higher education, government, and military sectors.

Online Learning and Teaching Concentration (15 hours)

Perfect for individuals focused on designing, developing, or managing online learning and teaching initiatives.

Admissions

Application Deadline:

  • August 1 (fall)
  • December 1 (spring)
  • May 1 (summer first half term)

Admissions & Requirements: 

  • Complete the Graduate School Admission Application.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a university accredited by a US Department of Education-recognized institutional accreditor.
  • An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher for the last two years of coursework.
  • Copies of unofficial transcripts from all academic coursework beyond high school.
  • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Statement of Purpose of no more than 750 words in 12-point font and double-spaced, written definitively, coherently, and incorporating thoughtful expression in response to:
    • How will this program help you to achieve your professional goals?
    • What skills and knowledge do you hope to acquire and develop as a result of this program?
    • Characterize what you would contribute to the collective learning experiences of your fellow students.
    • Develop your narrative so that it clearly responds to the prompts and provides the reader with definitive, coherent, and thoughtful expression.

Additional items required for those using this program to satisfy the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Instructional Technology Specialists: Computers (10877). This requirement is only for those who wish to earn the 077 license. Those who wish to work in other instructional technology settings (higher education, corporate, military, government) do not have to fulfill this requirement:

  • A valid appropriate North Carolina teaching license A or G level (or equivalent from another state).
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years teaching experience.
