Graduate Certificate in Applied Nursing Informatics

Program Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Nursing Informatics is designed for nurses who hold BSN or graduate nursing degrees and desire to enhance their skills in clinical application of nursing informatics. Content focused on implementing, managing, or conducting analytics using clinical/administrative information systems. The Certificate consists of 4 courses (12 credit hours) that can be taken over a calendar year. The Certificate can be taken concurrently with Nurse Administration and other MSN curriculum. The certificate program is offered online.

The certificate targets 2 primary groups of nurses, (1) those who are in administrative positions or enrolled in our Nurse Administration MSN and will be responsible for using informatics systems or implementing then as part of their administrative responsibilities or (2) nurses who are interested and/or assume the role of early adopters or informatics champions within their worksites. Informatics has become center place in nursing practice from electronic patient records, quality improvement/benchmarking, assessing patient outcomes, and decision-supporting algorithms.
